Moody Bible Institute (Applied Linguistics)
Rhode Island College (Graduate Coursework)
Hi, I'm Hailey! I currently live on the East Side of Providence with my husband and our cats, Claude and Monet. We've recently moved to Rhode Island, and I have loved exploring and getting to know our new home! I'm currently finishing up a second bachelor's degree in Spanish from Rhode Island College. I hope to acquire my teaching certification soon afterwards. My first bachelor's degree was in Applied Linguistics from the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. During my first bachelor's degree program, I took advantage of many opportunities to increase my skills in the field of Second Language Acquisition. Some of those opportunities included going to Spain for 3 months, assisting in ESL classes, and leading language learning teams with target languages of Arabic and Mandarin.
I have 2 years of experience in tutoring ESL to non-native speakers, as well as helping those who simply wish to improve their reading and writing skills in English. I also have 3 years of experience in early childhood education, so I'm very excited about helping little ones with their language skills as well! Tutoring Spanish is a new endeavor for me, but I'm confident in my abilities to help you communicate in both languages.
I love being a part of the process of building bridges between people of different cultures and backgrounds through language. It's a beautiful experience. When I'm not teaching, I'm usually studying. I also enjoy spending time with my husband, listening to good audiobooks, dancing, and being outside! Hi, I'm Hailey! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I would love to help you with your English! Whether you're learning English for the first time, or you just need help with a school essay, I can be here to help you every step of the way. Tutoring sessions will consist of us setting learning goals, and then finding ways that we can accomplish those together. Our sessions will be individualized to accommodate each learning style.
I would love to help you learn English! I have several years of experience in the second language acquisition field, and I also hold a degree in Applied Linguistics, as well as a TESOL Certification. I love languages, and I love to build bridges between cultures through language! We will learn through lots of "hands on," personal interaction. I try to make every lesson fun and enjoyable!
My first bachelor's degree is in applied linguistics, which included a full semester of grammatical analysis. I've also tutored several ESL students in basic grammatical structure. I am currently studying Spanish and Portuguese as well, and while it is not English grammar, studying grammatical structure in other languages only serves to increase and confirm my confidence and love of grammar.
I currently work in the field of early childhood education, and have worked in this field for 3 years now. A large part of ECE is learning the alphabet, letter recognition, and learning letter sounds. I also recently finished an opportunity tutoring international children in newcomer schools who are still working on English letter and sound recognition.
I would love to help you with your Spanish! I taught Spanish for 2 years before moving to Providence this May, and I loved it. It is so special to be able to create a bridge between two cultures through language. Though I'm comfortable at most levels of Spanish, I specialize in teaching beginners, especially children. We will learn through songs, games, art, writing, and many other methods. I strive to make my lessons as fun as possible!
