Adobe Lightroom is a breakthrough in photographic digital workflow. A few years ago, developers at Adobe realized with increasing chip size in our digital cameras, increasing file size and resolution, bigger and faster computers, the only component missing was a software to help manage the workflow of the digital photographer which required bulk processing images from a 100 to 100,000 or more. Based on a catalog system for quick referencing, Lightroom enables photographers to process files from their RAW unedited state, through renaming, keywording, and other organizational processing, into developing and image enhancement, all the way to final product whether it is a JPG, TIFF, directly uploaded to the web, or printed. With a multitude of tools at our disposal within one fast and easy to learn program, Lightroom has become a must have for any photographer at any level.
My Lightroom course goes from start to finish: from how to set up a catalog, proper importing techniques, suggested organization techniques and workflow tips, understanding development tools, export options, and more as you learn the ins and outs of this wonderful program. Designed for Lightroom beginners new to the program, who already have a working knowledge of the computer environment and photography. Mac users preferred but Windows users also welcome!
Adobe Lightroom is a catalog based program, and was developed by Adobe as the needs of today's digital photographer became clear: the capacity to organize, rename, edit, and export large quantities of images in the most efficient fashion. Lightroom continues to be a driving force for many amateur and professional photographers alike, including myself. With comprehensive import functions, organization tools, edit capabilities, and extensive export options, Lightroom is a must have tool for any photographer.
My skills can help you setup and use your Lightroom catalog to it's fullest potential, with all of your personal preferences embedded into a seamless workflow. From start to finish, I can help you make the most of this powerful Adobe program. I currently use Lightroom 3 but can easily adapt to students using Lightroom 4.
Unlike other programs in the Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop deals with images and editing on a pixel basis, as opposed to other vector based programs. Images can be edited using the menu drop-down options or the adjustment layers, with different techniques, for example dodging, burning, masking, selection tools, etc. Adobe Photoshop is capable of doing the most basic image enhancements to the most advanced compositing and image restorations.
After being first introduced to Photoshop CS2 and Elements in high school, I began using Photoshop CS4 for editing my own photography, everything from basic enhancements to advanced manipulations. After a completion of a digital photography class as part of my Photography Degree from Fitchburg State University, I learned new tips and tricks for Photoshop involving masking, portrait editing, and even very advanced image restoration techniques. I currently utilize Adobe Photoshop CS6 for my own editing needs and for other photography professionals as a freelance Editor and Retoucher.
Photography has long been debated as an art throughout its entire history. Today, it is being applied more and more in business applications. Whether working as an artist or a business professional, in film or digital, photography has many applications and uses in hundreds of industries. Governed by simple math of doubles and halves, exposures are controlled by symbiotic systems of ISO, shutter speed and aperture. Composition guidelines can all be utilized or intentionally broken. Images can be taken under a wide variety of lighting conditions to achieve a multitude of effects. Areas of photography include portraiture, event, products, landscape and nature photography, wildlife, sports, fashion, art journalism, lifestyle, and architecture, with more genres evolving every day.
I have been utilizing photography as an art for 7 years, with classroom experience both in high school and a full program at Fitchburg State University, graduating with a degree in Communications Media: Photography. With a solid foundation in film, combined with valuable knowledge of current digital technologies and trends, I currently own and operate a photography business featuring images of coastal life and nautical subjects. I have also given a lecture on basic portraiture and lighting tips at a local high school with great reception from the students.
My photography course is designed for novices and beginners, whether brand new to photography or looking to expand beyond a basic knowledge of the craft. We will explore fundamental camera functions, the differences between camera models whether film or digital, obtaining proper exposure, how to make camera controls work for our creative vision, and ways to improve your eye for creativity and composition.
