Polonius: What do you read, my Lord?
Hamlet: Words, words, words.
Shakespeare's Hamlet, Act 2, Scene 2.
Words last. The Epic of Gilgamesh is over 2000 years old. Beowulf, the first English epic, is at least 1000 years old. The fact that words can survive so long and still be able to reach us is an incredible thing. Even individual words have stories behind them. And as a writer, I can tell you that the skill of writing can be an extremely rewarding ability to master and one that will serve you no matter where you go in life. It is with this kind of enthusiasm that I approach teaching. I have tutoring experience at the college level and greatly enjoyed helping my students to develop. I do this by trying to give both breadth and depth to the subjects. Not only is it about getting the lessons to adhere, but about getting the student to feel comfortable and confident with the subject. When a person becomes more comfortable and acclimatized to the subject s/he will be able to ask questions and help to guide the course of study according to his/her interest. With tutoring for taking the SAT test, I'd like to maintain this same philosophy though still consider the demands of the test. I look forward to hearing from those looking to learn.
