Algebra 1

I strive to develop a student's Algebra skills from the basics of Middle School math and Pre - Algebra. I like to use models that help a student visualize the concepts of Algebra for greater true understanding (and less memorization).

Algebra 2

I have succeeded at helping Algebra 2 students by framing the subject as "Algebra 1 on steroids". This involves seeing through the abstractions of Algebra 2, and developing the techniques to translate Algebra 2 level problems to a series of Algebra 1 level problems.

Calculus

I enjoy tutoring Calculus! Calculus comes naturally to me in ways that I can translate "how it works" to students. My approach has yielded successful results. I model real world situations, then develop understandings of them graphically and analytically with students.

Geometry

I find that helping students succeed in Geometry helps them to succeed in further areas such as SAT tests, sciences like Physics and Chemistry, and higher maths like Precalculus and Calculus.

To acquire Geometry skills, I work with student to think on paper! This helps them envision what the solutions look like with the process to get to the solution.

Physics

I enjoy helping students learn Physics, making the subject highly approachable. I teach Physics as an Adjunct Professor at RWU. The students that adopt the pathways that I model go on to excel in class.

Prealgebra

I enjoy helping students begin their study of higher level math courses like algebra and geometry by allowing them to develop strong number skills with integers and fractions. With my students, I try to develop an adherence to processes using graphical arrangements wherever possible, in order to help them develop confidence in the solutions that they derive.

Precalculus

Precalculus seems like the link to truly higher order math. It combines algebra and geometry. My approach to helping students understand and truly learn precalculus involves introduction to analytic techniques/processes that are easy to master and become second nature.

Trigonometry

I enjoy helping students learn techniques to succeed at trigonometry. One student of mine used techniques I developed on his tests and quizzes, when his physics teacher asked him about what he was doing. My student explained the techniques, and his teacher was thrilled. His teacher plans to use my techniques!

SAT Math

I enjoy helping students learn how to prepare for the SAT test for math.

I use an approach that is methodical and gives students the confidence that they will then use to approach all types of problems that the Math SAT poses.

Differential Equations

I enjoyed and excelled at my experiences taking differential equations courses at Northeastern University as the courses dealt directly with my major of electrical engineering. I have the ability to help you approach the problems posed by differential equations by tying the problems to real world situations. I can show you how to transform problems to simpler mathematics to reach solutions.
