I am a retired Providence Police Officer who has a fierce love of all things Mathematical. I have recently attended Rhode Island College and completed the following courses: Precalculus, Calculus and Statistics. I have a substitute teaching certificate from the State of Rhode Island and am working to becoming fully certified in Mathematics. My teenage daughter attends Boston University and before that was a student at LaSalle Academy in Providence. She credits me with helping her achieve an "A" in geometry and always tells me that if I hadn't tutored her, she would never has done as well as she did. I believe in a one on one method and when confronted sometimes with misunderstanding or confusion, will try many different ways to explain exactly how the concept is applied. I am patient and tenacious when it comes to ensuring that any student who worked with me would understand the subject matter. This is my first foray into tutoring. I hope that if you are someone who is having difficulty in either Algebra 1 or Geometry, you will consider me. I am dependable, and can be easily reached. I have found in my own experience both through attending classes and listening to students that many math instructors, although very knowledgeable on the subject matter, are not able to transfer the concepts and ideas of what they are teaching to students. To me, communication is critical. I believe I am excellent in conveying to the student the idea we would be working with. The student must understand and in a way that is simple, not complicated.
I am a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association and have a Doctors degree in law, but math has always been my passion. I am always available to speak with parents and students.
Thank you.
