I have helped students understand the principles of chemistry for over 25 years.

I am of the opinion that most students fear the subject but by careful explanation with examples taken from their own experiences that the subject can lose some of its "terrors". For instance, by knowing that crushed ice cools a drink faster, a person has discovered the concepts of both surface area and reaction rates.

I am a certified environmental analytical chemist and a RI State Hazardous Materials instructor. I have taught at all academic levels including high school, community and 4 yr colleges. I am currently an adjunct professor at Springfield Technical Community College.

I enjoy teaching students at all ability levels.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Anatomy

Think of this class as a review of the owner's manual for the human body. It shows where the various organs and bones are and how they work together. The student will learn the proper names for each organ and bone so they will be able to converse properly with their teachers and continue their progress in the biological sciences.

ASVAB

I have taken many military tests in my college years. They test the basics so a student should not fear the exam. The right answer is given.

I can teach you the basic steps in math (it's not that hard) and other subjects to improve your chances of success.

Chemistry

This subject includes a review of the basic principles of chemistry so that the student will have a good foundation for future success. Math is part of the class of course but I teach it in such a way to reduce as much anxiety as possible.

Ecology

Ecology takes in all of the sciences in order to understand the many processes that contribute to life on this planet. With so many avenues to pursue in this discipline, such as chemistry, biology, botany, etc., the student can choose the best pathway for themselves in this science.

I have spent most of my professional life in the environmental field and am passionate in educating people about it. For once it's gone, it's gone forever.

Physical Science

Take a look around - everything that happens on this earth can be explained by science. some processes are better understood by than others but all are open to those who wish to know about them.

A basic knowledge of these sciences is essential to all. The founding principles are easily understood. I like teaching in this realm as often just one or two lessons will open up new worlds to students.
