Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I have taught in the local public high school as a resource teacher for the past 26 years. I taught students with a variety of diagnosis ranging from LD (Learning Disability), Autism, Aspergers, and ADHD. I have used graphic organizers and homework planners with students and taught the students how to effectively set up their own organization systems.

Aspergers

I have taught in the local public high school as a resource teacher for the past 26 years. I taught students with a variety of diagnosis ranging from LD (Learning Disability), Autism, Aspergers, and ADHD. I have helped facilitate a social skills group with the school social worker. Before this present position, I worked for six years at the Groden Center, a school for emotionally disabled and autistic students.
