Over the past 28 years I have taught students in both the regular education classroom and in special education settings. I am Massachusetts certified in Elementary Education (grades K-8), Special Education (K-12) and Mathematics (5-12). Besides teaching in a public school setting, I have also taught mathematics at the community college level and an SAT Prep Course. I love working in small groups or individually with students as I find this the most rewarding experience. Working with special needs students trains one to informally assess a student's needs on an ongoing basis and to tailor instruction accordingly. I find that it is equally important to both support a student with their academic subjects and to develop learning strategies that will assist them in being an independent learner. I also think learning should sometimes be fun! I have tried during my career to create teacher-made materials that not only review the concepts but also motivate the student. I set high standards for my students but I likewise support them so that success is the most likely outcome. I love teaching and find it a most rewarding career.
