Hi! I am in the process of finishing the last requirement for my Master of Arts degree in English at Millersville University. I also attended Millersville for my undergraduate degree, and graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor's in English/Print Journalism.
At this time, I am working as a Graduate Assistant in the English Department at Millersville, where, in addition to assisting professors, I also work tutoring students in Composition, Business Writing, and a variety of literature classes, including American and world literature. I also work as a freelance writer, most frequently for Lancaster County Woman Newspaper.
I greatly enjoy working one-on-one with students, helping them recognize and develop effective tools and techniques to utilize when facing the often-daunting prospect of a research paper. This includes research and critical reading strategies, source evaluation, organizational skills, and ultimately, creating a paper that is clear, concise and effective in conveying information and meeting requirements.
I love reading and writing, and while I realize that not everyone feels the same, there are ways to approach these activities that strengthen a student in general; not just in English, but in their entire scholastic career. It is also my fond hope, while working with a student, that they may find something they enjoy about reading and writing, that these activities become less frustrating.
