I have my PhD in Genetics from UNC, where I studied methods to detect viruses in patient samples and new ways to classify infections based on gene expression profiles. I have worked as as TA for several genetics courses, and am also very knowledgeable in the field of biology.
I have tutored students in genetics from many local colleges, including UPenn, Temple, Bryn Mawr, Immaculata, USciences Philadelphia, and more. This experience helps make the most of your time and prepare you for exams, since I have had exposure to the material covered in class and know how different teachers tend to ask questions. Kristen was amazing!! From the first contact she was professional, efficient, kind, conscientious and most importantly really seemed to know the material. She is bright, friendly, extremely patient. She tutored for College Bio and goes above and beyond the duty to try to make sure the student knows the material. She is five star and one of the best tutors I have used on wyzant. I am very particular about tutors and she knows her material and teaches it in a great interactive interesting format. She also went out of her way to be available before my final when I was in a bind and is tutoring at night and on the weekend. I hope to use her for genetics next semester.
Thank you Kristen!
After an awful initial experience with a tutor, I met up with Kristen. She was well organized, and extremely knowledgeable in the field if genetics. I am sure that she is equally as wonderful in other areas of science. Kristen was patient when I didn't initially grasp a concept. She challenged me to answer questions, and she made concepts much easier to understand. Finally, I appreciated the fact that Kristen was down to earth, and made learning an enjoyable experience. I will continue to utilize her services for the remainder my molecular biology course!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
