I am a professional educator, with 6 years of teaching experience in public and private school settings. I am a certified Spanish teacher K-12 and middle/high school English teacher; however, I have middle and high school certifications pending. All professional clearances and certifications are available upon request.
Language arts and history can be especially difficult subjects for students who do not have initial interest in these areas, so I enjoy the challenge of making learning interesting and relevant to my students.
During the summer and in my spare time, I also tutor primary and secondary high school students, including those with disabilities who cannot attend school and perform home school evaluations.
Language fascinates me, and teaching Spanish language and culture is my specialty! My students learn grammar, culture/history, and slang through both traditional and dynamic instructional techniques. We sing popular Spanish songs, cook, read the news, etc., in the target language in addition to formal language training.
As a teacher, I love to learn! Traveling the world has been a passion of mine since I began a medical internship and advanced my language skills in Mexico. I have also traveled to Bolivia, Ecuador, and the Galapagos Islands, and taken student groups to Spain and Costa Rica for cultural and language immersion experiences.
