Hello! Thank you for taking the time to review my profile.
I am a certified English secondary education teacher who graduated from Grove City College in Grove City, PA this past May. I am passionate about teaching, first and foremost, but I am especially passionate about teaching English. I am certified by the state of Pennsylvania to teach grades 7-12 English, and 7-12 Communication (Public Speaking, Drama, Theater).
I believe in differentiated instruction, which Dr. Caroline Tomlinson founded as educational best practice. This means that every student learns differently and as a result, instruction needs to reflect their individuality. I also believe that "readers are leaders." Students that are excited about reading on or above their level will undoubtedly excel in most other areas of school. They will also build their vocabulary, which is vital. Writing is another important aspect to the English language. The quality of expression reflects on the writer, whether in an academic setting or in job applications and emails. Perfecting the subtleties of English is important for everyone, and I will be the first to admit that it is a lifelong process where we need to all be learners.
I have had extensive experience working with senior high students. I will be teaching a middle school class to English Language Learners this summer through PA Migrant Education. My student teaching experience was at both a public high school and a rehabilitation center for adjudicated male youth. I loved both and I relish new experiences.
I will dedicate myself wholeheartedly to the request before me in order to help the student(s) that I am teaching. I believe in using resources and perseverance to help my student(s) attain his or her goal. It will be my pleasure and joy to journey alongside students, through difficulty and success, for their ultimate growth.
Thank you again and I look forward to working with you in the future.
