I'm Josh R., and I have been a tutor here on WyzAnt for the last four years. I have extensive classroom and teaching experience, having taught English and writing to 9th through 12th graders at a private school in Westtown, PA, for over a year.

My subjects include a number of English studies including ESL, SAT and ACT prep, Literature, and General Writing instruction. I also thoroughly enjoy enjoy tutoring in a number of Adobe Creative Suite subject such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, After Effects, and Dreamweaver.

My teaching strategy generally revolves around a constructivist approach. This means that I try to work in and around my student's problem areas in a manner that allows for a guided construction of knowledge as opposed to the traditional model of handing knowledge down knowledge from on high. I find that with this approach my students are afforded greater retention of knowledge and a stronger identity with the subject overall. I will work very hard to make certain that your tutorial sessions are tailored specifically to your own needs.

You can rest assured that I take my presence here on WyzAnt very seriously. In terms of the amount of work I will undertake in order to prepare my lessons and design a curriculum for you my rate is exceedingly low. I hope you will consider my services and I look forward to hearing from you.

Josh’s subjects

ACT English

Success on the ACT English test requires a comprehensive understanding of grammar and how best to organize sentence structure, use proper punctuation, and command simple rhetoric.

As an English ACT tutor, I will work with you or your child to develop these skills with a lesson plan designed specifically for your needs.

ACT Reading

As an ACT Reading tutor I strive to prepare your child by identifying needed vocabulary, teaching advanced reading comprehension strategies, and helping them to gain a better sense of how to take the test overall.

From 2008 - 2009 I worked for a small school in a contract position where a large portion of the student body faced the effects of ADD and ADHD in their academic lives everyday. Because of this, and my own personal experience in dealing with ADD in my own life, I have managed to pick up and develop numerous strategies for getting through to students facing this difficulty.

Students in this situation need to have an individualized and personal approach in their education and I am educated and prepared enough to provide them the sort of instruction they need in order to succeed.

Adobe Photoshop

During my college undergraduate I pursued and completed a degree in digital multimedia arts with extensive training in Photoshop for both print and digital mediums. My experience with the program is extensive and I relish any opportunity to share with inquiring minds how to use it properly.

As a Photoshop instructor I can help you to familiarize yourself with how the toolkit works, how to manage your layers properly, and how to manipulate the software to get it to do whatever you need it to.

As someone who has spent much of his years both studying and teaching English to a broad spectrum of students, I can confidently claim a mastery and passion for English rhetoric and a stable foundation in proper grammar usage.

As an English tutor, I will strive to communicate this passion to you or your child, whether you are learning English as a second language or simply need practice with complex grammatical structures. I enjoy teaching my students how to use and manipulate rhetoric and always look to instill the same passions I hold in them.

Currently I hold an active TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certification and have had multiple experiences working one on one with students from a variety of competence levels and ages.

Grammar can be a tricky subject for many people. It is not uncommon for many students or professionals to struggle with proper grammar and punctuation in their documents, oftentimes with little realization that they are writing improperly or ineffectively.

By working with you directly, I can design a series of lessons attuned to your own personal learning style to give you an edge in your understanding of grammar and the English language. And, while grammar is often thought to be en extremely dull and drab topic, I always do my utmost to ensure that it feels relevant, exiting, and important to you and your writing.

I have used Windows throughout the majority of my life. Of all basic operating systems, Windows is the one through which I have the most experience. If you feel you need to brush up your Windows skills than I will be able to help you.

Microsoft Word

I have been using Microsoft Word extensively as a professional tool for years. If you need help learning the ropes or simply just understanding how to improve your efficiency with the program I can show you how.

Proofreading is all about your learning style. Your ability to catch errors and mistakes in lengthy documents expands greatly in relation to your own understanding of how best you learn and consume content for education. If you are looking to better your ability to proofread your own documents strategies I can help you to find the strategy that works best for you and will help you excel.

If you are only looking for help in proofreading a difficult assignment or project I will be able to help you in both grammatical accuracy and rhetorical precision as well.

Web Design

As a multimedia student during my undergraduate degree I spent an extended period of time working in and around web development environments.

Drawing upon this experience I can work with you to teach the basics. How to get started on a website, what tools to use, and how to make it look professional will all be covered.

As a career educator, I have spent a large portion of my life developing a passion for both engaging and helping others with writing.
