I am a native speaker of Spanish and love introducing students to all aspects of Spanish language and culture. I believe that each student has a unique and individual learning style and my job as a successful educator is to work with that student in order to find his/her best way to learn. I enjoy giving students the tools to be successful, not only in Spanish language learning, but throughout all of their courses.
Since 2003, I have been a teacher of Levels I, II, III Spanish, 6 sections each year, with an average class size of 25 in each section. I have covered the spectrum of vocabulary instruction and pronunciation from elementary basic to intermediate advanced, utilizing a variety of teaching techniques to encompass all learning styles and inclusion for special needs students. I use a variety of innovative and creative techniques to introduce and help students master unfamiliar grammar. In addition to my curriculum planning, I have successfully planned/implemented and led three school trips abroad to enhance language learning and cultural awareness for over 50 students. I am a peer educator to my department to share unique techniques to improve student writing. To demonstrate how much I love working with children and teenagers in different capacities, I have been an assistant and head swim coach for 3 teams with responsibility for over 400 swimmers, several of whom achieved district level time standards, Junior Olympic time standards and YMCA National time standards. I am committed to learners of all levels, ages and interests and enjoy sharing my time and knowledge with them.
As part of my employment with my school district, I have current background checks and all appropriate clearances to work with children. Upon request, I am happy to share these documents with you!
