Hi Families,
I am kind, positive and enjoy helping students realize that "they can do this". I will help your student gain or regain confidence in their ability to succeed!
I graduated from Roger Williams University University with a Master's degree in Education (I earned a B.S in Civil Engineering Technology/Mechanical Minor). I am a registered Professional Civil Engineer as well as a certified K-6 Elementary and Middle School Math Teacher. I tutor students in Math (pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, and general Math), Language Arts (including English, reading, vocabulary and writing). All Elementary subjects, test preparation and test taking strategies. Besides tutoring, I also have a lot of work experience as a substitute teacher and teaching assistant in various classroom settings. I have experience with students of all ages, including extensive experience with individuals who have special needs, in particularly autism. I am also a civil engineering contractor.
In general, I favor a "hands-on" approach to teaching that involves a lot of interaction between the tutor and student, and real word experiences in addition to development concept and practical applications worksheets. However, my specific methods vary according to the subject being taught and the specific learning style of the student. With the permission of the parents and student, I will collaborate with the teacher to stay on target with the learning goals we set.
I look forward to hearing from you!
