Greetings students and parents! I live in West Chester, PA and work at an educational nonprofit. Previously, I taught history at a large public school near the southern tip of Texas. I have experience tutoring and administering the ACT as well as teaching history and college prep courses to students in one of the poorest counties in America. Some were gifted and required that extra push to excellence, while many others came from Spanish-speaking homes and needed help just understanding basic text. I'm still young, but I've seen it all! Coming from a small public school in rural Illinois that left me to my own devices, I had to develop my own study habits and methods that I now use in my tutoring. I was the valedictorian of my high school, a National Merit Commended Student, and an AP scholar with Distinction. I studied Humanities at Yale, which required wide-ranging coursework in literature, philosophy, theology, and history, and developed public speaking and debate skills in the Yale Political Union that guide the way I teach and communicate today.
The scores below don't lie about my knowledge base, but the real reasons to hire me are the intangibles: I bring an energetic yet patient personality to the table, a passion for getting students to think about big ideas, and a knack for writing and editing that can help your student soar.
