My main focus is to provide the student with multiple ways of learning the material so that it makes sense and is completely understood. My goal is also to make learning fun and relevant to the student and the world around them.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

My New York State 7-12 Math teaching certification includes all varieties of Algebra taught from 7-12 grade. I have also passed the Algebra certification exam through WyzAnt and have recently completed my Pennsylvania 7-12 Math Teaching Certification.

Basketball

I played basketball all through high school and was on a club team in college. I have coached junior high basketball as well as junior varsity basketball for 6 of the last 8 years. I continue to play basketball with a group every Friday morning.

General Music

I played French Horn in high school as well as being part of the chorus. I was involved in various select bands and choirs throughout my high school days. I was also a member of the brass ensemble for 2 years at William Smith College.

Logic

I teach New York State Geometry which contains a unit of logic. I have successfully taught this course for the last 3 years. I was also a math major in college which required me to utilize the logic for various courses including computer programming.

Regents

I graduated from a high school in New York State in 2001 and I had to take all the required Regents exams. I graduated with honors by earning above a 90 on all the exams that I took. I have also taught various Regents courses in NYS over the last 8 years of teaching.
