I have practical knowledge in Adobe InDesign through my studies at Marywood University in Graphic Design and from working as a Graphic Designer at The Copy Corber, Quality Printing, Inc. for seven years.
Using Adobe Photoshop can be fun and easy - if you know the right tricks. As a graphic artist for 7 years in a print shop, I can show you many tricks and techniques. As an art educator, I realize that I don't know everything and will find the correct answer to any question you might have!
Being an art teacher, I spend most of my time drawing and sketching. I often do several sample works and demonstrations in a day. When applying to college, I was able to "test out" of drawing courses because of my ability. I have learned how to manipulate any medium through practice and experimentation. There are examples of my work in my profile photographs section of this website.
Painting is my favorite medium, because there are many ways to accomplish something. I have taken extensive coursework in the area of painting, both in the United States and in Florence, Italy through Studio Centers International. I have experience painting and teaching still life arrangements, figures, abstraction and landscapes. I have taught painting courses with Acrylics, Oils, Water-based Oils, and Watercolors. I enjoy painting with a brush, as well as a palette knife to accomplish my desired effect. There are examples of my work in my profile photographs section of this website.
Photography is an interesting medium because of the evolution of technology. I have taken course work in black and white film photography and Adobe Photoshop. I enjoy working with film, mostly because it is very kinetic and hands-on. The environment of working in a dark room is not something that can be mimicked in a computer lab. Adobe Photoshop is a different experience altogether, in that there are a variety of effects that can be accomplished, but none that look identical to film photography. Audience and intention are very important to the photography profession, and as such have to be taken into consideration when arranging any part of a photograph. Composition is always important in visual arts, but essential for photography. Without the proper consideration for audience, purpose/story and composition, a photograph is bound to fall flat.
