I am an experienced professional offering tutoring in several subjects. I graduated magna cum laude from Brown University in 1984, concentrating in both French and Cognitive Science, and was elected a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Here is a short summary of my qualifications in different subjects.
French: I lived and worked in Paris for a total of about six years in the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s, most recently working in Paris from 2003 - 2006, and have visited approximately 25 other times since 1995. I took French for years in school (including at Brown), without ever being able to speak it well -- or even understand it the way French people really speak it -- fast and slangy. As a native speaker of English, I know specifically what parts of French you'll find hard and why, and I can often help in a way that even native French speakers can't. I know what you're going through because I went through it myself and now can make it easier for you.
English / Writing / Grammar / Proofreading: I worked for 25 years as a marketing professional and management executive. Between school and work, I've written hundreds of papers, presentations, analyses, speeches, email blasts, and advertisements. Often just having a second set of eyes and ears will improve the clarity of your message immensely. I can work with you both in person and remotely and am comfortable with all types of writing.
IT-related subjects (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, others more arcane): I have more than 25 years of experience working for independent software vendors in North America and in Europe.
The father of two young children, I have lived off and on in Delaware County for almost 20 years and in the Philadelphia area for almost 30 years (with some time away in London, Oslo, and Paris). I enjoy helping people unlock the joy of mastering a new subject and can offer you, your child, or even your business a wealth of experience, strategies and patience that will improve your results dramatically.
