English

I have been an English teacher for many years. I have taught children of all ages and abilities. I have also taught adults. I have experience in helping students improve their skills in all aspects of English including reading, writing, listening and speaking. Based on the needs of the student, we work on grammar, pronunciation and sentence structure.

ESL/ESOL

I have been teaching ESL for many years to international students and scholars. I have helped them improve their skills in all aspects of English including reading, writing, listening and speaking. We have worked on grammar, pronunciation and sentence structure. In addition, I help students to learn about American idioms, slang and proverbs. I have helped students of all ages, from preschool to senior citizens.

Special Needs

I have been working with individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities for 39 years. During this time, I have worked in a variety of positions, including as a sheltered workshop supervisor and director, job coach, employment counselor, medication administrator, residential support staff, QMRP, counselor, program specialist and residential director. I have worked with both children and adults in many areas including pre-vocational skills, activities of daily living, social and community skills, self-medication, problem solving skills, and others.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
