Currently, I am a Spanish 1 and 2 teacher for a prep school in Philadelphia. I have taught for the school district of Philadelphia as well as student taught at a high school during my graduate program at Saint Joseph's University as I obtained my master's degree in Education. During my high school and college years, I studied Spanish in Mexico, Spain, and the Dominican Republic. Currently I am preparing for a trip to Central America this spring with plans to visit Panama and Costa Rica. I have vacationed in Puerto Rico as well, experiencing the beautiful Yunque rainforest.
As a tutor, I am to make the material as relevant as possible, using pop culture and relevant aspects of life to help students make the connection. I am fond of technology, so pictures via Instagram, Facebook, or even a iPhone game are not uncommon if it helps the student learn the material. I also give small quizzes on occasion to ensure students are grasping the material. I reward good sessions as well.
I have been working with students since 2007, and have tutored privately and through organizations since 2008. Repetition is important, but I also hope students enjoy their time with me and find that I have helped them stumble upon an understanding of the material that eludes them.
