My name is Ron. I am a retired engineering manager with recent teaching and tutoring experience. Education: B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering; graduate studies in mathematics; and Masters in Business Administration. I love to teach small groups and one on one.
Taught analytic geometry, calculus and differential equations at engineering college level. High school substitute teacher: all levels of algebra, geometry, trigonometry and Math SAT Prep. Community college instructor: all algebra levels and business calculus. Tutoring: SAT Math, Algebra, and Geometry for a nationally recognized tutoring service.
Emphasize basic understanding and practical applications of problem solving, rather than rote memorization of facts and formulae.
Work experience ranges from research and development and advanced technical studies to project engineering, applied problem solving and project management. During course of engineering career, developed and taught technical training courses. As Director of Design Engineering for major natural gas utility, managed a technical and administrative staff of over 100 employees.
Have attained some level of skill in demonstrating practical applications of math and science based on many years of applied problem solving experience. Spent 14 years as B.S.A. Scoutmaster helping Scouts with their broad range of learning experiences.
