Medical Doctor Student Tutor in Math and Sciences

I have been tutoring students since I was in 10th grade through school tutoring programs, and I have continued to do so throughout college. I am currently in medical (MD) school at The Commonwealth Medical College in Scranton, Pa. I commute between Williamsport and Scranton and can find spaces in my schedule to meet with students within this region. My strengths are in biological sciences, but I also excel in math up to Calculus II and mechanical Physics. Additionally, I have a strong grasp on both General and Organic Chemistry.

More importantly, I love to learn alongside the person that I tutor, and I am abundantly patient and kind (trust me I know what it is like to not grasp a difficult concept). As such, I can bring the education to the level of the learner and use language that allows others to fully understand concepts beyond what it takes to get the "A" on a test.

I am comfortable working with people of all ages, and enjoy the variety. I am very patient with children and adults alike. Additionally, I hold myself to a high ethical standard and do not take advantage of people in any way. I may be contacted for free advice about tutoring and course material.

Algebra 1

As a student with math experience up to calculus II, I am confident in my ability to tutor through the concepts and equations of Algebra. I have tutored this subject more than any other, largely helping remedial students or students hoping to ace standardized tests such as the SAT.

Algebra 2

Biology

I am most qualified to teach biology because I have a bachelor's in molecular biology. My emphasis is on cell and animal biology, though I have intensely studied ecology, plant life, genetics, and microbiology throughout my education. As a medical doctor student, I like to relate biological concepts to medicine. I am very passionate about this subject, and I am absolutely confident in my abilities to tutor this effectively.

Chemistry

I have a very strong chemistry background due to my collegiate experience, lab experience, and MCAT experience. I have a strong grasp on every major topic in chemistry, and my time in inorganic, organic, and biochemistry inform my capacity to aid students in understanding general chemistry. Geometry

As a student who has excelled in math from Geometry and Trigonometry to Calculus II, I enjoy tutoring all levels of math. Geometry is particularly fun to learn. Please feel free to inquire about any subset of this course topic.

Physics

In the field of Physics, I have a strong background in Kinetic Physics/Mechanics, as well as a healthy dose of Electricity and Magnetism. I scored a 5 on the AP test and I also scored highly on the MCAT in the physical sciences. I have 3 semesters of Mechanics under my belt and a lot of laboratory experience to go with it. I actually struggled a lot with Physics when I first started, so I know what it is like to work through the concepts.

Biochemistry

As a molecular biologist turned medical student, I am quite familiar with a broad range of biochemistry topics, and have tutored in biochem test prep, homework solving, and paper writing. I have a background in biochemistry research and lab sciences. Furthermore, medical school has served to enhance my biochemical aptitude.

SAT Math

It has been 7 years since I last took the SAT, and my math abilities and tutoring efficacy have dramatically improved since. I aced the test when I took it and have helped to tutor students at school and friend's children to grasp the SAT math concepts well.

Physical Science

As a medical student with a broad experience in physical sciences, I am very comfortable tutoring in this topic. I have had 3 years of Chemistry courses and 2 years of Physics in addition to excelling in the Physical Sciences portion of the MCAT.

MCAT

I have taken and tutored for the MCAT multiple times over the last 2 years as I prepared myself and others to attend medical school. I do not prefer to announce my MCAT score, though I can say that I scored over a 30 and have a strong grasp on about 95% of the subject matter relevant to the test. I am confident to tutor for this subject and I have some very helpful free material.

Microbiology

I have completed Micro in college and received an A for my work (tough course so this is notable). I am very familiar with laboratory techniques, and I have studied bacteria throughout many other courses of inquiry, including a course in zoonotic disease and epidemiology. This course is effectively my major (molecular biology).

Organic Chemistry

I have taken Organic Chemistry in college and received an A- both semesters. Additionally, I have taken the MCAT and done well on the organic chemistry/biology section.
