I am a Spanish teacher with 23 years classroom experience. I lived in Valladolid, Spain while a junior at West Chester University. More recently, I traveled to Peru in July and August of 2006 where I spent time in northern Peru, the Amazon and Machu Picchu! I have hosted students from Spain and Mexico. This year, I have had the chance to meet, speak with, spend time with and befriend college students from Ecuador and Venezuela.
It is my firm belief that everyone can acquire another language with enough practice, guidance and encouragement. I believe that when a student knows how they learn best, they can adapt any information to this style, thereby succeeding.
I hope to instill in other people the joy I get when communicating in another language. Learning another language also opens the door to new cultures, beliefs and experiences that are otherwise not available. Learning about the cultures where a language is spoken helps us to understand our culture, just as learning another language helps us understand English more thoroughly.
It is expected that students come ready with questions or particular areas of needed practice. It is expected that the student do their part, practicing concepts, reviewing materials and asking for further clarification when needed.
Scheduling during the school year is limited to early evenings and Saturday afternoons. During the summer and vacations, greater freedom of scheduling is available.
