Experience has taught me that students will meet the bar that you set for them. Raise the bar high and give them the support and structure they need and they will reach it.
I have a true love of both teaching and learning. Not much beats the feeling of seeing a student have that moment when things finally "click"! Patience and good communication skills with each individual student are key. Equally important is the willingness and ability to adapt methods of explaining a topic until you find one that is right for that student. I enjoy working with students one on one to help them achieve their highest potential.
I am a summa cum laude graduate holding a Bachelor of Science
Degree in Biology
. I graduated with a 4.0 GPA while taking overload courses and raising two children to very successful adulthood - so my study skills
, work ethic, and organizational skills
are also very strong. I have a quadruple level II teaching certification in Middle School and High School Mathematics, Middle School Science, and High School Biology.
I worked as a full time teacher at the high school level for ten years teaching several different math
courses. I have also worked as an adjunct math instructor at the local college. I specialize in Geometry
, and Trigonometry
. However, I have a broad knowledge base in math and science disciplines in general and have successfully tutored a wide variety of subjects. I have also had extensive experience in SAT
and other standardized test preparation
I now devote myself solely to private tutoring and I must say I am one of those lucky few people that can truly say "I love my job"!!
I look forward to hearing from you and to helping you or your child to achieve success!

I've been trying to keep my summer students more interested by tailoring lesson plans to their interests. For example, graphing and finding mean, median, mode, etc. and making predictions using the player stats of a student's favorite world cup team.
It's difficult for students to want to participate in tutoring over the summer. This seems to help.
