My true passion is helping others and finding ways to boost their self-esteem. With tutoring, I achieve that every day. I started tutoring while I was a Division I college softball player at Long Island University in Brooklyn, NY. At first, I wasn't a paid tutor because I was mostly helping out teammates on road trips with essays and various writing assignments. It wasn't until a colleague of mine suggested I go to the campus writing center and apply for a job. She said she had noticed my enthusiasm to help others and believed I would make a great fit as a paid tutor. Once I got hired, I really found my niche for helping others. For me, it was never about getting paid, but seeing my students reporting back to me each week with higher grades and deeper understandings. My goal is to eventually become an English teacher after being blessed to have so many wonderful educators in the English field throughout my whole life. It is a field that scares off most children because if you can't read, you feel like a failure, and if you can't write, you can't express yourself freely. I want to teach children and teenagers that they do not have to fear the phases "essay assignment" or "reading homework" anymore. It all starts with eliminating the fear and creating a connection to the material, and I feel I can do that effectively with willing and able students. Allow me to help you or your child realize there is more to English than reading books and writing essays. Mastering the arts in English opens doors to every career category possible, but without the right foundation, one may never achieve their goals or their dreams.
