I love helping children succeed and giving them a chance to do their best in school. I am passionate about teaching and how I can make a difference in children's lives. I love what I do. I love life and try to convey to everyone I meet that life is a gift not to be taken for granted. Trying to teach utilizing differing strategies is what I do best. Utilizing various methods of technology, manipulatives and differing ways to learn concepts is the way to go. Making learning enjoyable (not boring) is one of my goals as I feel that if a student is interested, he or she will be more vested in their education. Also, application to real-world problems and situations are important because we all want to know what the point is of a concept we are learning.
I try to incorporate different ways to teach and how to best learn and retain information. Learning the subject matter isn't as important as keeping the skills necessary to do a great job. When I tutor or teach students, I am always aiming at helping them in the best way I can. Respect is my ultimate goal as well as building and maintaining rapport and relationships. If people can relate to you and trust you, I feel that it is half the battle. I thrive on the respect of my students so that they can trust me to help them succeed in whatever they do.
I have math manipulatives that can be used to kinetically learn concepts on all elementary levels. I have a degree in elementary education with a concentration in reading. My master's degree is relative to integrating technology into the classroom. In addition, I have taken courses in classroom management, which relies heavily on a good foundation of communication skills. Incorporating various teaching strategies into the classroom and on an individual level is also an additional post-graduate class which was taken as well. An entry-college level of Spanish was also a concentrate post-master's. I believe that incorporating various modalities and learning styles is important because individuals not only learn differently, but understand on all levels separate from the norm (which is non-existent in today's society).
