Although being a young tutor, I would say I have gained a lot of experience over the years learning about tutoring and the tutoring process. I have engaged myself in a lot of tutoring programs whether it was through Reading Area Community College's Upward Bound Program where I helped Reading High School students with basic study skills, or whether it was through Albright College working in the writing center, or serving as a tutor in English and Literature and Spanish.
As far as my tutoring methods go, I like to see my tutees learn the material and become confident in telling me what they know. I do not believe in the strategy of trying to teach and then do everything for the tutor. My tutoring approach is centered around giving my tutee the tools necessary to succeed, and for them to actually be able to teach me in the end of their session what they learned. My tutees may be needing help in a specific subject area, but what I hope I succeed after all is done- is that my tutees become experts in the area which they once struggled.
