I recently retired after teaching biology, chemistry and physics as a certified Pennsylvania teacher. When I first started teaching, I had a perfect score on the National Teachers Exam. My instruction evolved to emphasize hands on learning and projects. My students became better test takers by really learning the science not just how to get the answers. Surprise – two things happened: it takes less time, and it is fun. Students learn how, not just what. My experience spans grades seven to twelve and college students. I enjoy working with students with difficulty and high performing AP students.
