I am an inquisitive, lifelong learner who is always working to enhance my understanding of and capabilities in software development, most recently focusing on web-related development. I have a BS degree in Computer Science from Penn State University and have worked in the local technology industry for over twenty years. I have also earned a Masters degree in Theological Studies, with a focus on doctrinal and historical studies, and have taken PhD-level courses in Systematic Theology at Duquesne University. I have also played guitar and electric bass for over twenty years and can offer beginning instruction on those instruments.

I grew up in the Fox Chapel area, attending its fine public schools, and have continued to live here since. I have volunteered as a youth chaperone at a local church, going on several foreign mission trips. I also spent one year teaching Earth Science to two sections of ninth-grade students. More recently, I mentored a team of elementary students at my son's school which was one of six finalists nationwide in the 2009 Toshiba NSTA ExploraVision contest. The students developed the ideas for the HoloSmart paper, a futuristic desktop computer that could be rolled it up and carried in a small backpack, then unrolled on desks as a read/write work surface, or stood on end in a curved fashion, allowing it to project holographic images and videos.

My philosophy is simple: to coach and encourage a student as he or she develops the confidence to do things like program a computer or set up a website. I have developed substantial amounts of software in PHP, C, C++, and Javascript, as well as HTML, CSS, and MySQL. Learning to program will, among other thing, help your student solve complex problems, which is a good life skill for anyone to have!

C++

I have a BS degree in Computer Science from Penn State University. I have developed software in the C++ language for over 6 years. I helped develop a software system that allowed software developers to design their system in UML, then generate C++ source code from the design diagrams. I also worked on a large telecommunications system written almost entirely in C++.

Computer Programming

I have worked on large software systems used in the fields of factory automation, medical devices, telecommunications, automotive refinishing, language pronunciation instruction, e-commerce, and website administration. I have a BS degree in Computer Science from Penn State University. I have developed software in various languages for over 20 years.

Guitar

I have played electric and acoustic guitar and bass guitar for about 30 years. I have written many original songs that range in style from folk acoustic to hard rock. I have also recorded electric and acoustic guitars using multitrack recording systems and have given basic instruction and technique coaching to middle school and high school-aged kids.

Religion

I have a Master of Theological Studies degree from the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Pittsburgh, PA, where my GPA was 3.9. I then entered the PhD. program in Systematic Theology at Duquesne University, where I completed 5 courses with a GPA of 3.6. I can help students with Koine (Biblical) Greek, early church history, philosophy as it relates to Christianity, history of the Protestant Reformation, virtue ethics, and the study of various aspects of Christian worship, primarily the sacraments and the historical place of music, voice, gestures, and body language in worship.

Web Design
