I am an inquisitive, lifelong learner who is always working to enhance my understanding of and capabilities in software development, most recently focusing on web-related development. I have a BS degree in Computer Science
from Penn State University and have worked in the local technology industry for over twenty years. I have also earned a Masters degree in Theological Studies, with a focus on doctrinal and historical studies, and have taken PhD-level courses in Systematic Theology at Duquesne University. I have also played guitar
and electric bass for over twenty years and can offer beginning instruction on those instruments.
I grew up in the Fox Chapel area, attending its fine public schools, and have continued to live here since. I have volunteered as a youth chaperone at a local church, going on several foreign mission trips. I also spent one year teaching Earth Science
to two sections of ninth-grade students. More recently, I mentored a team of elementary students at my son's school which was one of six finalists nationwide in the 2009 Toshiba NSTA ExploraVision contest. The students developed the ideas for the HoloSmart paper, a futuristic desktop computer
that could be rolled it up and carried in a small backpack, then unrolled on desks as a read/write work surface, or stood on end in a curved fashion, allowing it to project holographic images and videos.
is simple: to coach and encourage a student as he or she develops the confidence to do things like program a computer or set up a website. I have developed substantial amounts of software in PHP
, CSS, and MySQL
. Learning to program will, among other thing, help your student solve complex problems, which is a good life skill for anyone to have!
