My name is Lashonna. I am an ESL teacher with two years of experience at a school in Saudi Arabia . I was the head phonics teacher responsible for teaching grades 1-5. This amounted to teaching more than 25 classes a week and over 500 students. Phonics training included intonation, vowel reprogramming from British pronunciation to American, diphthongs , diagraphs, shwah sounds recognition, syllable dissection, consonant blending, and overall phonemic awareness to enable students to break down words through skills instead of relying on word memorization alone.
I have also been a beginners to intermediate Arabic teacher for the last 12 years. I first learned the Arabic language during my trip to Yemen in 2001 and have been teaching both adult and children learners alike ever since. I have been immersed in the Arabic culture in the middle eastern countries namely Yemen, Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia learning colloquial dialect from local natives as well as learning Classical Arabic through books of grammar in order to understand the language from both ends, through textual and practical linguistics.
During my last two years in Saudi Arabia, I had the honor of helping my three children with all of their academic subjects in the Arabic language. I taught my oldest son how to read Arabic in a crash course of three days ( he's a fast learner) in order to bring him up to speed to at least be able to keep up with the class in his new school.
I look forward to working with any students young or old that are need of any tutoring that I can offer with my expertise. I love teaching and I am very patient when it comes to my student achieving their academic goals, and I try to do my best to make them happy and aid them in any way that I can.
