Hello,

My name is Scott J. and I am an environmental engineering PhD student at Drexel University. As part of my education and of the very nature of academia, I am a teacher. I teach university level courses in engineering, mentor undergraduate students, and individually tutor students who need extra help. Additionally, I have taught after-school math programs for elementary school students in the Philadelphia area. I can work with people of all ages, however, I have a strong ability to teach and motivate younger students. Teaching has always been a joy for me and I take pride in the progress of my students. I am a young, passionate, self-motivated person who genuinely loves to learn and help others do the same!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Chess

I've been playing chess since 2nd grade and love the game. I have played throughout grade school on the chess teams and enjoy teaching others how to play.

I have an MS in Civil Engineering from Drexel University. I am also a PhD candidate in Environmental Engineering at Drexel. I am a teacher assistant in hydrology and mentor undergrads in the field.

College Counseling

I am a PhD student at Drexel University and mentor undergrads and graduates with coursework, academic plans of study, and general goals for a successful academic career. I understand and can help students manage university bureaucracy and set career goals. I can also offer guidance to prospective students who want to find the university to suit their needs.

Fitness

As a senior member of the Drexel University Rock Climbing Club, I frequently teach and mentor students to learn the sport of climbing. I am a proud outdoorsman and like backpacking and hiking in remote areas. I commute to work on my bicycle and plan long distance rides with my friends.
