College Counseling

Now more than ever, being chosen out of the hundreds of applications that admissions committee members review requires more than just test scores. An original, well-structured, and articulately written application is the key to standing out.

As a high school senior, I crafted my own successful applications to Harvard and Stanford, and over the last five years as a tutor, I've helped many students create their own successful applications to many selective colleges and medical schools.

My involvement in the writing process is tailored to each individual: I can help with everything, from brainstorming to drafting to revising (and re-revising). Or, I can simply a final proofread on an already well-polished essay. Whatever the stage of your personal statement, I can help you get it submission-ready.

I work in the format you prefer, whether with face-to-face meetings, by exchanging drafts over email, via phone or Skype, or in any combination.

In addition to editing your personal statement, I will also offer to evaluate your application as a whole to make sure everything is aligned, consistent, and works to augment the personal story you want to present.

Choose me as your admissions counseling tutor, and I'll help you uncover your unique and powerful writing voice, so you can make the impression you want to make, and get accepted!

Microsoft Excel

I worked extensively with Microsoft Excel throughout my time in the finance sector (something which also helped me apply my knowledge of statistics to the real world!). So if you need help learning Excel--for the basics up to Monte Carlo financial modeling or as a part of a general business analytics course--get in touch. I am eager to spread the joy of this powerful tool!

Statistics

If you are looking to make sense of a basic statistics course, I can help. I have enjoyed the many hours I've spent making statistics more intuitive for Philadelphia's students, from CCP and UPenn undergrads to SJU and Temple EMBAs. As part of that, I've witnessed how confusingly the subject can be presented. But I'm a little nerdy for statistics and find it fun to learn and teach, and so clarifying the topics for my students has been a great time for me. Get in touch if stat is giving you trouble, I love to help!

Writing

I have ample experience helping with brainstorming, outlining, writing, and editing essays on a myriad of academic subjects, from political science to English literature to anthropology, and from the high school to graduate level.

I truly enjoy assisting with any or all parts of the writing process, from brainstorming to formulating a thesis statement to first drafts to editing to final polishing. Whatever stage you're at in the writing process, I can help.

We can meet in person, exchange drafts over email, or consult over the phone or Skype--or whatever combination works best for you!

Best Stats Tutor! I needed Dave's expertise for a statistics course, and he was excellent in every way. He knows the topic well and is able to translate it in a way that made doing the problems so much easier. He was always punctual, very responsive to emails, and he's a very pleasant person to be around. I couldn't have asked for someone better! ...
