What keeps me tutoring is the emotional reward: seeing someone I help feel and perform better with their subject is what keeps me going and wanting to help more people.

My name is Michael, and I am an experienced young professional conducting independent research at UPenn. I studied at West Chester University of Pennsylvania for physics and am currently at Philadelphia University for mechanical engineering. I have worked with students in math and science for over two years from middle school to college levels.

I specialize in math and science classes from algebra up to calculus and physics. My personal challenge for each lesson is making sure to close the students’ “concept gap”: often, students do not have trouble with the process of problem solving but understanding what the problem is. Every session is a conversation about subject fundamentals, sample problems, and translating ideas into terms the student understands.

I am willing to travel to the student’s home. If your home isn’t ideal, contact me and we can work out a convenient location.

I’m looking forward to hearing from you soon!

Michael’s subjects

Algebra 1

As a tutor with a primary focus in math and science, I not only tutor algebra frequently, but also encounter this fundamental math subject every day in my professional life. I conduct research at UPenn and West Chester University on colloidal crystals and hydrodynamic damping. Students I tutor are mostly college-age, but range from middle school to adult.

Algebra 2

As a tutor with a primary focus in math and science, I not only tutor algebra frequently, but also encounter this fundamental math subject every day in my professional life. I conduct research at UPenn and West Chester University on colloidal crystals and hydrodynamic damping. Students I tutor are mostly college-age, but range from middle school to adult.

Calculus

As a tutor with multiple years of experience tutoring people in precalculus- and calculus-level courses, tutoring calculus is one of my main focuses. With a physics and engineering background, I encounter math at and above this level every day. With my experience, I walk the student through what a concept in math is about, how to execute it, and how to tackle a problem when it comes time for a test.

Geometry

I am a tutor with a primary focus in math and science who has worked with students at this level of math for multiple years. I conduct research at UPenn and West Chester University on colloidal crystals and hydrodynamic damping, a very math-heavy field. Students I tutor are mostly college-age, but range from middle school to adult.

Physics

I am a tutor with multiple years of experience tutoring people in high school to college-level physics courses. With a physics and engineering background, I have the knowledge of physics fundamentals, but as a tutor I can walk the student through a concept, show them the steps to solve a problem, and help them master the material needed to get through their class.

Prealgebra

As a tutor with a primary focus in math and science, I am experienced with math fundamentals and how to build a solid foundation for a student. I conduct research at UPenn and West Chester University on colloidal crystals and hydrodynamic damping. Students I tutor are mostly college-age, but range from middle school to adult.

Precalculus

As a tutor with multiple years of experience tutoring people in precalculus- and calculus-level courses, tutoring precalculus is one of my main focuses. With a physics and engineering background, I encounter math at and above this level every day. SAT Math

Statistics

I am a tutor with a primary focus in math and science who has worked with students on statistics for multiple years. I conduct research at UPenn and West Chester University on colloidal crystals and hydrodynamic damping and use statistics every day for the theory of my work. Students I tutor are mostly college-age, but range from middle school to adult.

Great Tutor!! My son worked with Michael to prepare for an Econ Statistics exam. Michael thoroughly explained theory and concepts in concise "plain English." He listens carefully to what you say, i.e. what you are having difficulty understanding. He draws pictures/graphs to reinforce the concepts. Michael is clearly very gifted and well-schooled in Mathematics. And, just as important (in my opinion) he has a ve ...
