I am a career changer and 12 years ago I went into education because I felt that I had something to give to students that they would find useful. I've spent the last 10 years teaching middle grade students in Math and Science. My students were very successful on the state PSSA tests by increasing their level of proficiency by some 20 to 25%. While I haven't as yet done much one on one tutoring, I did spend a great deal of time with my students in one on one situations. I have been lucky enough to have a large number of students return to see me after they graduated to tell me how well they are performing in high school do to what they had learned in my classroom. In addition to being a middle grades teacher, I am also fully certified in all K-6 subject areas. I have recently retired and I am looking to continue my career as an educator by working with small groups or in one on one settings where I feel that I have the ability and personality to successfully relate to students. Since I had changed careers, I have the ability to relate their schoolwork to what goes on in the real world and why they are important skills for the students to learn.
