I am a dedicated, knowledgeable, and friendly tutor. I have twenty five years of tutoring experience in mathematics
, and have enabled many students, young and older, to achieve greater motivation and success. My goals for my students are a better understanding of the subject matter, improved grades, and greater self esteem. I take pride in my ability to enable my students to achieve these goals, and have found that my students and their parents have been pleased with the results they have obtained from my assistance.
I have a Bachelor of Science
degree and two Master's degrees, and have been teaching and tutoring mathematics and accounting for more than twenty years. One of my greatest skills as a tutor is my ability to communicate concepts that are troublesome to my students in a way that simplifies them and makes them understandable. I also am adept at instilling confidence in my students, and making the time I spend with them enjoyable rather than a frustrating experience.
My approach to tutoring is to first make my student feel at ease, then communicate the relevant concepts in an understandable way. I then demonstrate the skills we are working on, and finally help the student work through problems related to those skills (still assisting them, but allowing them to work as independently as possible).
I am careful to challenge my students that they may grow their understanding, while at the same time having the work and exercises they do progress at a rate that that permits them to feel a sense of accomplishment. My job is not complete until my student has moved from "this is too hard for me" to "I can do this." Confidence, resulting from understanding and an ability to perform, is the key to success.
My credentials include a Bachelor's degree in accounting, graduating with highest honors and first in my class, and a Master's degree in education with a concentration in mathematics, graduating with highest honors.

if they need help or have questions about their work.
