Since middle school, I have had experience tutoring both peers and younger students. Even now as an undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania, I am a peer tutor for several math and science classes. My philosophy on tutoring stems from the way I was taught to study. Because of that, I try to challenge the student and make them solve and understand the problem on their own instead of directly telling them the answer. I believe that the obstacles that must be overcome in resolving a challenge not only allows the student to fully understand the problem, but also provide groundwork to resolve future problems.
The study skills that I have accumulated my entire life has prepared me to grasp difficult concepts often in shorts amount of time. The importance of mastering and truly "understanding" a concept is more valuable than any answer or solution I can offer a student and it is this fundamental skill set that I wish to slowly instill onto my students. Because I take this belief very seriously, I am sure that I will be able to help you (or your child) to fully utilize their incredible brainpower.
