Hi, I'm currently a senior biology student at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. My specialty is molecular biology, and I do medical research at Temple's medical school. I have extensive tutoring experience teach math, science, language, and music to a variety of students from those in middle school to those trying to pass Calculus II at Temple in their first go (a difficult feat, I assure you). I believe what makes me a great tutor is that I am very laid back and not at all intimidating. I struggled with mathematics in high school, and when I when to the university, found that it sort of all came together for me, so I am uniquely qualified to teach math to people who have the problem of math just not 'clicking' for them; I've been there. In terms of credentials for teaching math, I have a lot of experience with algebra, complex word problems, geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, Calculus I (derivatives and limits), Calculus II (integration and infinite series) as well as some background in statistics and probability. I've received at least an A- for every math course I have ever taken and most have been As. For science I received As in both general chemistry courses at Temple University and a BS in organic chemistry. I would also be able to tutor general biology, ecology, environmental science (got a 4 on the AP exam), cellular biology, as well as some topics of genetics. I also have a secondary but very useful perspective of being a college student, and in addition to the educational side, I like to get to know my students and would be willing to talk to any prospective college students about strategies to prepare for college as well as the experience overall (from dorm life to finals week). More recently, I was accepted for graduate study at the Temple University School of Medicine and am now up to date on cell signaling and genetics. I can therefore tutor university level cell signaling and genetics. If you are interested in me tutoring you, I live and work around the Philadelphia area and would be willing to come to you if that is what you like or alternatively there are places I could arrange to meet on Temple University's campus.
