I have had past tutoring experience in both volunteer and paid conditions. My first jobs were tutoring for the SATs, and as word of mouth spread, I expanded into volunteering at my high school for the National Honor Society. I now tutor in West Philadelphia (while also attending college at the University of Pennsylvania) with a volunteer group called Project Breakthrough, which works with underprivileged, highly motivated students.

Though all experiences have involved helping students learn to feel confident in their abilities, each circumstance has been different; as a result, I am quick to adapt to each student's needs.

Students should feel assured there will be no negativity and no judgment when working with me, since there is neither need nor room in learning environments for either.

Please note: I am limited to tutoring on Penn's campus since I do not have a car at school

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Study Skills

I have tutored techniques to study for the SATs in the past. Other times, I have tutored students whose main concern was their inability to find a study method that worked for them. I have taught note-taking techniques, study techniques such as the proper way to make flashcards, and other methods dependent on my assessment of the students' needs. I now tutor in West Philadelphia (while also attending college at the University of Pennsylvania).

Wonderful tutor. — With Abby's help my daughter completed and passed her online summer geometry course that allowed her to get into the accelerated math class. Abby worked tirelessly helping my daughter understand concepts that were not covered very well online. She was available to us on demand and never let us down. I will definitely use Abby again. ...
