I'm a former high school English teacher -- and current PhD student in Education -- with a proven track record working with students with diverse learning needs.
I like graduate school okay; I'm lucky to have the opportunity to be a full time student, but the truth is, I really, really, really miss my kids. Teaching adolescents and young adults is my favorite thing to do. I'm an energetic and creative teacher, and I care very deeply about my students. I have an extensive background in program and curriculum development, particularly with test prep programming for the SSAT, PSAT, SAT, and AP tests, but I also love tutoring literature, reading, and writing, particularly the writing and revision process. I work with students on research papers, college application essays, and scholarship essays.
I specialize in working with students with autism spectrum disorders like Asperger's, and with students with sensory perception issues, including dyslexia. I've even helped dyslexic students increase their SAT verbal scores by 200 points!
I've always focused on infusing as much technology into my classroom practices as possible, and in fact am currently researching the effectiveness of a variety of digital tools for instruction. If you need remote tutoring, I can help set up a system that will ensure real learning.
