Hello all! I just graduated with my Bachelor of Arts from Lesley University. I majored in Art History and Minored in Illustration. In my first three semesters of college I was an Art Therapy Major and I worked with Middle School Girls, teaching them self defense, I also taught different conflict/resolution lessons through art! I enjoyed helping them be more hands-on while they learned each lesson, many students have trouble sitting and listening so I like to transform the lesson into a creative project, or into something they feel comfortable with. It is so important to learn the way kids learn and teach them based off of there interests and abilities. Some like lessons to be factual and straight forward, others need to move, some like to create and imagine and some have a combination of ways they like to learn. I like to teach through association with words, movements, photos, or just something silly, when it comes to memorization! I frequently tutor my young brother, he was having trouble memorizing his flash cards, a specific question on the flash card was "Who was the leader of the Huns?" The answer was Attila, so I said "That rhymes with Godzilla, Attila Godzilla!" He was able to remember it that way. I like to do fun things to get kids to remember and learn things, because I was a very visual/creativity based learner when I was younger, but I want to help all types of learners! I am very well versed in many subjects in Art History and have many fun and interesting areas to teach. I also am an artist, I have been in two shows and I minored in Illustration! I can teach figure drawing/painting, still life drawing/painting, color theory, Art History, Water color, Abstract drawing/painting and many others!
