My name is Stefanie and I am 25 years old, with a degree in Behavioral Biology from Johns Hopkins University. This year I completed a post-bacc program at Drexel University College of Medicine, where I took medical school curriculum courses and will be applying to medical school this upcoming cycle. I have a special repertoire with children and actually plan to become involved in pediatrics for my career. I would really like to put to use my ability to get through to children by making subjects that a child might be struggling in actually seem doable and fun at the same time. I have been involved in several volunteer tutoring programs and have been tutoring and helping younger children understand difficult concepts for as long as I can remember. Although I have never been involved in a tutoring agency or organization, I believe that I could help any child who may be struggling. My undergraduate degree was in Behavioral Biology, which was a combination of Biology, Psychology, and Neuroscience. I have also taken all of the Physical Science pre-med classes and have taken a variety of classes that span nearly every subject. While upper level math is not my strong suit, I believe that that has made me better at explaining math to others who may not grasp this concept with ease. My highest scoring standardized tests have always been in reading and writing, and I would truly love to help students who may be struggling with these crucial concepts. I approach tutoring on a more individualized basis, as everyone learns differently and methods should be formulated around each child based on their specific needs. I like to take a more hands-on approach, as I believe that is the best way to learn anything, and I have a skill at relating many things to life and explaining it in a way that even those who do not have a special inclination for such a subject can understand. I am beyond patient and just really love helping children in any way that I can.
