I have a music degree specializing in Trumpet, the Recording Arts, Composition, Ear Training, and Music Theory. Composition is a difficult art that requires two principles. The first is to have incredible creativity and the second is to have the knowledge of how to express this creativity. I am a firm believer that the basics of music can be applied in every musical facet including modern music. I have the ability to teach the basics as well as being able to apply this knowledge to whatever style or type of music the student would prefer, because every style of music has a time and a place.
I am able to teach the basics of composition starting with counterpoint and leading to Classical to Romantic up to modern music. I have been schooled in the classic and jazz idioms and will be able to teach anyone the standard chord progressions and be able to open up a new world of creativity with every student.
Ear training is incredibly important to music. If you can hear what you will be playing or singing or writing then it will open up a world that few people know. I am able to cultivate a student's ear to be able to hear basic notes as well as very subtle style changes that many would find imperceptible. I have a music degree specializing in Trumpet, the Recording Arts, Composition, Ear Training, and Music Theory.
I would teach ear training in a similar way as to sight singing, in fact the two go hand in hand. You would learn solfege or numbers system, whichever is more convenient for the student to adapt to because either one can teach the same skills. I use fixed Do as opposed to movable Do.
I will teach the student how to hear every interval in western music. Anybody can be taught these intervals and the only way to improve is by practicing and this is most certainly a practiced art.
I am qualified to teach general music. I have experience teaching large groups as well as individuals. I have been involved with all music from being an instrumentalist to the music industries including the recording arts. I have a Bachelor of Arts in music and have used this degree well to learn and understand music.
Music Theory is the basic building block for knowledge and can be taught through many different mediums. I am able to teach music theory using any instrument or creative pathway in which a student may have an interest.
I have a music degree specializing in Trumpet, the Recording Arts, Composition, Ear Training, and Music Theory. Sight singing, along with ear training is the most important part of learning about music. Music is a game, you can be as good at the game as you wish and sight singing is the most important piece of this game.
I am capable of teaching sight singing to anyone, if you can hear the difference between one note to another than you can be taught to hear anything. I will start by playing two notes, asking higher or lower for the second note, and when this is answered we can begin learning to recognize any interval in western music.
Sight singing is important because if you can sing it than you can play or write it and you can communicate within the musical language.
I have spent my life perfecting trumpet as my main instrument. I have played in many settings from baroque to modern jazz and improvisation. I have a degree in music with Trumpet being my main instrument. I have played with many orchestras and big bands as well as combos and church groups. My largest area of study is the brass quintet. My teaching style is largely focused on fundamentals and using music as a vehicle to learn about much broader subjects. The student will learn about trumpet and music in general.
