Hi, Students and Parents,
I am just the tutor you need to get you or your student on track to learn math, science and critical thinking!
I just got my Master's degree in chemical engineering from Drexel University (I got my BSc in chemical engineering at the University of Oklahoma) where I was an instructor for ENGR 180: Math Assistance. In this class I fostered fluency in pre-calculus for engineering freshmen and contributed to their preparation for the academic demands through assigning engineering problems, group work, and general academic guidance. I also tutored students in calculus and shared information with high school students on the real benefits of pursuing an education in engineering. At my undergraduate institution (OU), I informally helped college underclassmen friends with chemical engineering courses, general chemistry, organic chemistry, and calculus. Also at OU I was a math tutor for a semester at Lakeview Elementary School where I would coordinate with teachers to help K-5th graders catch up with their work whether it was counting money, learning fractions, etc.
I also have experience doing energy storage research on a newly patented supercapacitor technology and have published and presented on the topic in Italy. Prior to that experience I did research on making better lithium batteries and making nanomaterials and worked in industry as an engineer for an environmental services company (John Zink LLC) and a chemical material company (W.L. Gore and Associates).
I am passionate about math and science and my passion is contagious. I can show the direct relationship between understanding a topic and its importance. I am patient--I do not give out answers, I ask key questions that develop understanding and induce critical thinking so that the student learns in the most effective way.
I look forward to working with you!
