My name is Hannah, and it would be my pleasure to work with you.
I am a recent graduate of Temple University with a degree in English and a minor in music. While at Temple I studied the English language and the craft of writing extensively. I have studied jazz piano, theory, and composition with musicians who are highly esteemed both nationally an locally. I also had psychology courses in developmental and abnormal psychology.
While at school, I worked for two years as a youth counselor for Caring People Alliance, with children from ages 5-12. I had 15-20 students under my care, experiencing a broad range of mental and emotional levels. Because of this, I have experience working with children who have mental and learning disabilities. Through this position I had the opportunity to teach art, music, language, reading and writing. I have written and administered PBLs (project based learning) for my students, and used these to cultivate a love a learning and a curiosity about the world around them.
As a tutor, I believe that it is crucial to be able to think of multiple creative and reliable strategies for learning the material. Sometimes a student needs a different perspective, or alternative concrete and logical methods for accomplishing the task at hand; and working in a one to one ratio can be the best place for a student to learn. I urge my students to ask questions and critically interact with the material so that they not only are engaged with the lesson, but are effectively committing this knowledge to memory.
I have always loved tutoring and I have worked with all ages, please let me know if I can be of assistance to you!
