Hey there,
For any interested students who enjoy movies in particular, I might be a perfect fit to tutor you.
I'm a writer and film critic with a host of publications -- including a droll almanac that encompasses all of human history -- with a particular emphasis on entertainment (and entertaining) writing. I've written for companies such as NBC, Comcast and AOL, and had a lot of fun doing it. I graduated with an MFA in Fiction Writing from George Mason University a few years back, and have taught everything from literature, film and creative writing to ESL and GED prep coursework, in high schools, colleges and after-school programs.
My teaching philosophy is to introduce students to the process by figuring out what they really connect to and using that as a starting point. My favorite teachers were always the ones who had the most personal engagement and fun with what they were teaching, which is what I strive to do with every student. Of course, there's hard work involved as well, but when it's really fun and interesting, it doesn't feel like a chore, it becomes something you actually can look forward to.
When I meet with you, we can quickly figure out what you need to focus on and come up with a teaching plan that will maximize your abilities. My specific methodology will change depending on the subject being taught and the type of student with which I'm working, but the core principles remain the same.
Hit me up and we can get started!
