Hi. My name is Amyro.
I was invited to join the National Honor Society (NHS) during tenth grade. In NHS, I had tutored other students at my high school, three hours each week for two whole school years. I recently graduated from Community College of Philadelphia back in May 2014, and I have transferred to Temple University with a major in finance
. In addition, I am currently a math
tutor at a college in Center City Philadelphia; the subjects I tutor are developmental mathematics
, basic mathematics, and Algebra
1 & 2.
My tutoring method is simple: UNDERSTAND, not know. If you know a subject, you are only memorizing the necessary information needed to pass a test, but if you UNDERSTAND a subject, you are grasping the full concept of the subject and you are retaining it in your long-term memory.
Fun fact: Did you know that most of your memory are short-term memory? Your brain only retains the information it deems necessary, and it throws the rest out. Your short-term memory only lasts about six seconds. Crazy right?
Well, if you let me tutor you, I will work with you to retain all - if not most - of the information you are learning. My tutoring style is making a dull subject more fun by comparing it to other fun things or subjects and repeating it multiple times in different ways so you can get it.
I can tutor you in the following subjects: Basic Math
, Algebra 1
& 2, Geometry
, Microsoft (Word, Excel
, and PowerPoint
, SAT Math
, and Spelling
Did I mention that I am bilingual? English
is my native language
, but I can speak Vietnamese too; I can only read and write a little Vietnamese.
I hope you're interested in me and my tutoring skills! Please feel free to contact me.
