I started playing competitive basketball at age 4. I played AAU and Youth League in my hometown from second grade until sixth grade. I continued AAU and competitive 3-on3 tournament teams through high school. I played on my middle school "A" squad from sixth grade to eighth grade. I continued playing competitively through high school. Freshmen year I played JV and moved up to varsity my sophomore year to senior year until I fell ill during the season (mono). Once in college, I played for my sorority in the Purdue intramural team 5-on-5 and 3-on-3 seasons for 4 years. I played in multiple philanthropies and fundraising events during that time as well.

During my time playing for over 18 years, I watched basketball avidly. Growing up in Indiana, basketball is such a phenom. I watched my sister play and grew up with a competitive passion for the team sport. I continue this to today. I attended skill camps from third to seventh grade for Youth League. After eighth grade, I attended team camps until I was a senior in high school. I attended the University of Tennessee camp twice, Hanover College camp four times, Vincennes University four times, and Lipscomb University skill camp on my own once. I had private basketball lessons for a year (2006-2007) from a former University of Indiana basketball player.

I also coached basketball during this time. I love coaching basketball and started when I was a freshmen in high school. As a member of the Lady Lions basketball team (my high school), I was able to coach the same Youth League teams I played on when I was in third through sixth grade. I taught skills at Cubby Camp Saturday and weekday sessions and coached season games on Sundays every summer/fall for four years. I won my age division tournament twice! The parents of these girls asked me to coach their AAU teams and I did that for 2 years while I was in high school. After high school coaching, I moved into volunteering and coaching for the local YMCA and YWCA when they had openings in Lafayette, near my university. This past summer I taught kinese to high school girls and boys at Upward Bound with a focus on basketball. My assistant teacher is a current basketball player at UPENN. I made connections and hope to possibly continue with this program and UPENN basketball next summer.
