I graduated from Saint Joseph's University with a BS in biology and the intention of attending medical school. I thought that getting a MS in pharmacology would prepare me for medical school as well as help get me in a top program. While getting my master's degree in pharmacology and volunteering at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, I realized that I did not want to go into medicine and I decided to focus my career on science. I got a position within a biotech company where I explored the potential of adult stem-cells and their ability to regrow hair follicles. Over the next three years, I became interested in the commercialization process and the business aspects of bringing a drug/therapy to market. I knew that in order to learn more about this process, I needed to go to business school and earn a business degree. I attended the University of Maryland's Smith School of Business, concentrated in finance and graduated in May with a MBA. I am currently pursuing various careers that would utilize both my science and business backgrounds. In this pursuit, I have applied and interviewed for positions within equity research, private equity, consulting, corporate finance within major pharmaceutical companies, and other general roles within start-up companies.
In addition to providing tutoring services for specific scientific and business subjects, I am interested in connecting with those students who feel that they would like to pursue a career in these disciplines. I can provide these students direction and valuable insight from the personal experiences gained during my long and non-traditional career route. In this job market, students must show a passion as well as purpose within their respective studies. A student needs to show that he/she is driven and working towards his/her goals. From my experiences and insight, I can help the student hone his/her interests and take the necessary steps to develop the skills needed to gain entry into the career trajectory that he/she desires.
