You would want a piano teacher, not a violin or guitar teacher, to teach you how to play the piano. Likewise, you would prefer an experienced and qualified surgeon perform your surgery instead of a med student. Then why would you want anyone but a math teacher to teach math? All ages and ability levels are welcome and respected. You CAN do math! You need a teacher who not only is an expert with the math content but understands HOW to teach in order for you to learn the skills and concepts necessary to be successful.
I am an experienced Certified Math Teacher, College Instructor, Math Coach, Education Consultant, Presenter, and Curriculum and Assessment Writer. I have instructed K-12 for several years in both public and private schools. I have trained and coached math teachers in several school districts at the elementary and secondary levels. I have conducted professional development for educators and administrators. I have developed and presented workshops for educators, community members, students, and parents. I provide tutoring, homework help, calculator usage, study skills, note-taking... I have significant experience with special needs populations and adult returning students. I provide individualized, personalized instruction. I can provide diagnostic and placement assessents. Also, I can interpret any assessment results.
I do not simply provide more of the same problems to practice. I teach number sense and how to think critically and problem solve. These skills are necessary to build a solid foundation and master concepts. End frustration, gain confidence, and increase your motivation. I specialize in Test Prep. I have written assessments for Test Prep companies and managed Test Prep for a leading, national learning center.
I can provide proof of completed background checks and fingerprints on file with several school districts.
